This website was founded by Clarice, Perneet, and Maggie.

While developing our project, a large challenge we faced was coding this website purely with HTML, CSS, and Javascript. For HTML/content, we set time aside to research topics related to cybersecurity, such as its history, types of phishing attacks, statistics on internet safety & privacy, methods to keep a password safe, encryptions, its effect on our community, and affiliated careers. We also reached out and interviewed someone who we know has direct experience with cybersecurity for even more information on the topic. For CSS/styling, we debated a lot about what colors to use, where the navigation bar should be (it was originally at the top of the screen), the shape of the text boxes, etc. At the end, we decided followed a relatively minimalistic and glass-like theme; making elements line up with one another and keeping our content organized was definitely not an easy feat. In addition, there were many cases in which the JavaScript for the phishing game and cryptography page would not function properly. It is because of our collaboration as a team plus numerous attempts of trial & error ("console.log()"ing) that enabled us to add interactivity to our website.

Our community has been affected by various breaches in the previous years, ranging from the UC San Diego Health breach to the Aeries breach (our student gradebook). Thus, we decided to take initiative to notify the members of our community about this recurring problem so it could be prevented. By developing far stronger passwords, our community can prevent dangerous and invasive breaches in the future.
